Ardnamurchan is the most western area of mainland Britain and is well worth a visit if only to experience the beautiful coastland views and areas of unfenced sheep grazing land that gives the most lovely feeling of remoteness and being away from the usual tourist traps. You can access Ardnamurchan by going west from Fort William and then turning South through Moidart; by crossing the Corran Ferry just after Ballachulish and then driving West through Sunart or by ferry from Tobermory in the North of Mull.
Ardnamurchan Point lighthouse and museum is a beauty spot where you can get a cup of tea as well as park the car to search for wild-flowers or do a spot of birdwatching. The other two significant beauty areas in Ardnamurchan are Strontian Glen Nature Trail and Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve
There are two ruined castles around Ardnamurchan which we principally recommend visiting on Summer evenings to experience the spectacular atmospheric locations at sunset. Tioram has a link below, the other is Mingary Castle.
Ardnamurchan is not an area that you would go to especially for traditional entertainment, but our recommendations are Loch Shiel Cruises and Resipole Studios that both have links below.
